Discover Quiet London with me
MONTHLY LONDON WALKS
Walk with me as we discover the quieter more beautiful parts of London. On these very special London Experiences we will wander the hidden streets and discover secret parks and leave the stresses of the modern world behind for a couple of hours.
How would you like to leave your stresses behind for a few hours and explore the beauty of London with me? How would you like discover new parts to this wonderful city, make new friends and learn a little more about the city around you?
Perhaps you are a seasoned Londoner looking to fall deeper in love with our great city, or perhaps you are a visitor or newcomer wanting to see the London that exists outside of the prosaic guidebooks, either way you will enjoy this series of monthly London walks.
About my London walks
I created my series of twelve London walking maps to share with you some of my favourite London ambles. The wanders I take if I want a prettier route from A to B, or if I want to soak up some inspiration or to get lost in photographing Georgian buildings and wisteria. These are the places I go when I want to remember that London has stood proud for two millennia and is infinitely greater than the sum of its parts and will outlive all of us.
Behind the relentless capitalist facade and the temples to consumerism of Oxford Street and Westfield lies another city, a place of achingly beautiful parks and elegant roads where traffic and people are not found. Hidden in plain view are limitless streets lined with understated, pretty buildings just sitting there hoping you will notice them.
The walks align with the months of the year, the seasonal cycle of London. Each walk takes place at a time of day and even a day of the week for when I think the location is at its most atmospheric.
About this Experience
I’m thrilled to tell you that I am now going to be running an exclusive one-to-one walk each month and one group walk. The group walks are limited to just six people and include a stop for tea and cake, or glass of wine and a packet of crisps, depending on where we end up.
I am running four group walks and a small number of solo walks throughout the Autumn, to celebrate London at one of the prettiest and most atmospheric times of the year and I would love you to join me.
Each walk will take around three hours in total, including a stop for a drink (included) but please allow extra time in case we run over.
It was WONDERFUL. Balm for the over-busy soul. And for once I didn’t have to organise anyone or anything and everything that was subtly organised was ‘top notch’. If you’re hesitating, go for it – you won’t regret it. ENJOY!
The following enchanting walks are open to booking for this season. There are just six places on each walk.
Saturday 24th August 11am
St James’ and Westminster
A walk down one of London’s most elegant streets with some of the world’s oldest shops, through two of London’s prettiest and most lively parks, and past both the seat of government and the home of the Queen.
This walk is great in the summer as the crowds of tourists don’t reach St James’s and is also perfect for someone new to the city who hasn’t see the headline sights. You might even spot a pelican or two.
Saturday 14th September 11am
A relaxing weekend stroll through the deserted City of London, the oldest part of London, indelibly marked by the Great Fire of London of 1666 and the bombings of the Blitz during the Second World War.
Winding alleys and medieval buildings jostle with some of Britain’s most impressive modern architecture and history seeps from every brick.
Thursday 17th October 5pm
An early evening walk through some of London’s Georgian garden squares.
On this walk we will see sweet alleyways, gorgeous shops, beautiful Art Deco buildings, innumerable literary connotations and acres of history. With the plane trees in full autumnal swing this is a wonderfully atmospheric walk.
Saturday 2nd November 11am
An autumnal walk along a pretty stretch of the Thames at Chiswick.
The riverside path takes you past elegant Georgian buildings with glorious riverside views, past sweet cottages with November roses and seven historical riverside pubs, including the Blue Anchor which featured in the Gwyneth Paltrow film ‘Sliding Doors’.
Dates for winter walks to be announced in the Autumn
I also offer a limited number of one-to-one walks each month. Come alone, or book with friends, and we’ll take a wander and chat about why we love London so much.
We can take our walk at any time, on any day of the week (including weekends), subject to my availability. I recommend that we take the walk for the month we meet but you are very welcome to choose a different walk instead.
